After some delay I am picking up on my YouTube series “Identifying Bible Interpolations,” both in the Hebrew Bible (OT) and the New Testament. This video is the Introduction to the series, so I am posting it again, since many of you might not have seen it. I will pick up with many subsequent examples of these additions and how they can most likely be identified with some degree of certainty.
Such additions are most always for theological and polemical reasons. To put things simply, these are places where it appears scribes are adding to what most likely was an earlier more “original” version, or alternatively, getting rid of things they did not like. For purposes of illustration I begin with a non-Biblical text–the so-called “Testimony” of Josephus to Jesus as the Christ, to represent the very intuitive methods I will be using in the series. Lots more to come so stay tuned!
