I know many of my blog readers have been anticipating the release of my new online course titled “Jesus and the Dead Sea Scrolls.” I have worked on this for several months and I am excited about its content and quality. It comes with a hefty course pack of study notes and other resources–PDF readings, bonus videos, and lots more. I will also meet monthly with students in the course via Zoom beginning October 29th. This is not a “Webinar” but a face-to-face gathering where we can talk about the issues, raise questions, and learn together–just as we did with the Mark course.

I have worked intensely on the Dead Sea Scrolls for the past 33 years–excavating at Qumran, the ancient site where they were found on the NW shore of the Dead Sea, as well as exploring the caves they were hidden in.
Take a look at the image in the thumbnail picture above. I love that face. It is intended to be “the Teacher,” but just who was he? You can almost feel his thoughts as he gazes across the Dead Sea, imagining the arrival of the Kingdom of God which he and his group expected to see.
