What Kind of a Jew Was Jesus? Joel Markus on Jesus and the Torah

Hey everyone, here is the fourth of six interviews I have done the past few days with speakers at the upcoming “New Investigations of the New Testament” virtual conference with the theme of the “Historical Jesus.” In this fascinating interview with one of my favorite scholars, Dr. Joel Marcus, of Duke University, we preview his lecture “Jesus and the Law” for the big event. At the end we talk about Bob Dylan and his influence on us and his use of the Bible and its images in his music and poetry!

For Joel’s books, including the one on John the Baptist, see this link: https://https://amzn.to/4lYUpXG

I know many of you in this “Research Community” as I like to call it, are already signed up but we have quite a few new members, and the price goes up after Sept 13th–a week from today–from $79 to $99, so now is the time to lock in your ticket. You can read all about the conference at this link: https://bartehrman.com/NINTTabor

You won’t want to miss this one–very much the “event of the year” in terms of the lineup of speakers as well as the topics they will cover. In our future Zoom meetings, among many other things we are working on together, I want to go through ALL the presentations and evaluate them with you as a group.
