I woke up this morning to lots of global headlines…report on Iran’s nuclear violations and likely independent strike by Israel, Indian plane crash, Hamas killing Gazans at aid centers, the Badgad situation…reminds me of Steve Earle’s opening lines in his song Jerusalem:
“I woke up this morning and none of the news was good
And death machines were rumbling ‘cross the ground where Jesus stood
And the man on my TV told me it had always been that way
And there was nothing anyone could do or say
I almost listened to him, yeah, I almost lost my mind
Then I regained my senses again and looked into my heart to find
That I believe that one fine day, all the children of Abraham
Will lay down their swords forever in Jerusalem
The rest of the lyrics are equally biblical and inspiring, true as the headlines today. I love the version by Joan Baez. If you have never heard it here is a link: https://youtu.be/ifvZGvwW_bg?si=pD029h8jTc7dGODj
The lyrics summarize the core thesis of my new book, Restoring Abrahamic Faith, which I hope many of you are reading. If you would like to have a discussion of that book and its core theses in a future Zoom meeting you can join my “Tabor Research Community” here.
And here is an easy link to the book available in paperback on Amazon: jamestabor.com/RAF
If you want a taste of what the book is about and how I came to write it–going back 60 years!–you can hear me reading the introduction here:
