Standing at Talpiot

People often ask how far are the Talpiot tombs from the Old city of Jerusalem. This picture offers a good visual. I am standing at the high ridge overlooking the East Talpiot neighborhood to the south, with Jerusalem to the north. The distance is less than a mile. In the time of Jesus the Herodian wall was also about 500 meters to the south of the present Turkish wall that is here visible.
