Happy 4th of July to all my American friends, and to all those beyond our borders who share our hopes and dreams and aspire to the same freedom and liberties we hold sacred.

Here are some sober reflections by Bill Moyers on this day. I don’t consider this a trashing of Thomas Jefferson, whom I revere in so many ways, but a message about the human flaws of all of us caught in our own niche of history and circumstance. The good news is progress can always be before us, our amazing system allows it, never better stated than by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration.
